The staff have been exceptional. We started at Aquatic Achievers with a child who screamed at the sight of water and now have a very confident swimmer.

How can I schedule swimming lessons for my child at Aquatic Achievers?

To schedule swimming lessons for your child, book a free Starter Session with us online. During the Starter Session, our qualified instructors will assess your child’s swimming ability, recommend the right level to start in and answer any questions you have about starting lessons with us. We know that life is busy as a parent, so our starter sessions are available on weekdays and weekends to suit your schedule.

Are your instructors certified to teach children?

Yes, every member of our team of instructors at Aquatic Achievers is certified by Austswim, one of Australia’s leading industry partners. Each instructor has completed a comprehensive ‘Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety’ training course and demonstrated the ability to teach swimming and water safety to a high standard.

Our priority is to provide a safe environment for children to learn how to swim and to give parents the peace of mind that their child is in safe hands. We ensure that every team member is properly qualified and regularly attends refresher classes, workshops, and re-certification courses.

What measures do Aquatic Achievers take to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children in your swim school?

At Aquatic Achievers, we are committed to safeguarding children and young people. Safeguarding is a fundamental principle across all our swim schools, and we take multiple proactive measures to protect the safety and wellbeing of the children that join our lessons.

We work with our trusted partners at Australian Childhood Foundation to continually improve our processes and procedures, and we have implemented the following measures to ensure maximum child safety and support:

  • Creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for children that come to our swim school
  • Maintaining the physical and emotional wellbeing of children that we teach
  • Ensuring that children have the right to speak up and voice their opinion
  • Fostering and supporting the growth and development of children
  • Promoting diversity, inclusion, and engagement across our swim schools
  • Regularly reviewing and refining policies and practices to ensure child safety

How often does my child need to attend swimming lessons?

As with many life skills, swimming requires commitment, practice, and patience. For young swimmers, it is vital to spend regular time in the water to develop confidence and foundational skills.

At Aquatic Achievers, we have over 30 years of experience teaching kids to swim, so we understand that children develop and learn to swim at different speeds. Our experienced team of instructors are trained to work with your child at their own pace and provide a supportive environment for them to thrive.

We recommend a minimum of one swimming lesson weekly to build confidence in the water, maintain the skills they have learned, and keep your child excited to get back into the pool.

How are children grouped in swimming classes, and how is their progress evaluated?

At Aquatic Achievers, our Solo1 Swimming Program is designed to group children based on their experience and abilities, as well as their age. These criteria ensure that children are placed at the appropriate level for their current skill set and comfort in the water, not solely based on age. We are determined to foster a safe and supportive environment for every child learning to swim.

Our program is structured with specific and sequential skills at each stage, allowing children to develop the necessary competencies to progress to the next program level. This structured approach has proven to help children progress faster than other programs, building their confidence in the water and equipping them for each exciting new challenge.

Progress evaluation is an essential aspect of our swim school. We offer regular feedback to parents on their child’s progress, allowing you to stay updated on their development. It is incredible to see what our young achievers can accomplish through our program, with some students completing a 1km freestyle swim at only 5 or 6 years old.

What are the benefits of a swim school for children?

Learning to swim and spending time in a swimming pool at a young age has many physical and social benefits for children. Aussie kids are fortunate to grow up spending long days at the pool or taking trips to the beach. Attending a structured swimming program helps to develop vital water safety skills and confidence in the water so they can enjoy these days to the fullest.

As a low-impact sport, swimming is a healthy and effective way for children to build cardiovascular fitness, strength, and coordination. Furthermore, learning to swim as part of a swim school facilitates the development of crucial social and emotional skills such as independence and self-confidence. Children that attend swimming lessons at a young age have an excellent opportunity to interact with their peers and make new friends in a fun and safe environment.
